# MFA

# What is MFA?

Multi-factor authentication (*MFA*) is like a double-check for your account. Even if someone manages to guess your password, they'll still need a second piece of information (*i.e.* *a code from your phone*) to get in. This makes it *significantly* more difficult for unauthorized folks to access SBLSD systems, sensitive data, and your account.
